The Wilders lived across the street from my parents, and our moms were best friends. Sammie Jean and I were born ten days apart and literally grew up together. I remember Sammie crying on our very first day of school at Mt. Vernon----she didn't want to go to school. Ironically, she grew up to have a long and successful career in education. "Booger" was a larger-than-life person; so full of vitality, joy, kindness, and love. She touched many hearts.
